As of 1st July 2011, Melbourne’s newest Industrial design and product development firm, MANO Design, has been formed by Simon Andresen and Marc Fraser.MANO Design is the culmination of nearly 12 months of planning and preparation, and represents a new chapter in each of Simon and Marc’s careers as professional industrial designers.

Spa Electrics’ collaboration with MANO Design has been recognised as a “Good Design” in the 2011 Australian International Design Awards (AIDA).The Victorian manufacturing and technology company has developed a new range of LED pool and spa lighting for the competitive 60mm niche-style underwater lighting segment, with numerous design and electronic innovations & patents pending.
The modular lighting range is designed for installation in new concrete, fibreglass and vinyl pools, and can also be retro-fitted to existing pools. The products incorporate numerous innovations in electronic design, manufacturing, operation, installation and energy efficiency.

As consulting designers, we are constantly looking for the best possible outcomes for our clients. We always aim to provide a comprehensive and thorough development process,typically starting with a series of loose ideas and concepts, and gradually and iteratively progressing towards the final solution.
We use a range of tools and techniques to identify, investigate and resolve problems – including sketches, illustrations, 3D computer-aided design, physical mockups and prototypes. These approaches help us to devise, revise and decide on the best solutions as well as communicate them to our clients.
For those of you who may be new to product development, and more specifically industrial design projects, you may in for a wild ride – so you will need to be ready to navigate a myriad of activities, challenges and tough decisions.
